the church of saint-sulpice 13th century in gothic style.
at end of choir enclosure, communion table oak sculpture 17th century. table consists of 4 members including 2 doors. balustrades decorated leaves , topped ionic capitals, pilasters foliated stand, console, , sculpted head. 2 elements of table reused pulpit.
the relics of saints lucius , emerite preserved @ abzac. in 1670 pope clement ix offered louis victor de rochechouart de mortemart, duke of vivonne (1636-1688), ambassador of king of france in rome, relics of saint lucius , saint emeritus, 2 martyrs of primitive church. duke of vivonne, marshal of france, brother of madame de montespan, squire of serre @ abzac inherited mother, diane de grandsaigne, , in chapel of serre relics of first placed venerated people.
the relics sent paris in 1758 in order manufacture new shrines , divided 3 parts:
the 2 largest pieces locked in 2 copper shrines silver ornaments , sent castle of la forge à verrières in poitou , kept @ montmorillon.
two small shrines sent manneville castle in diocese of rouen returned abzac in september 1865.
2 other large shrines of ebony thirteen fourteen pouces (inches) long , 9 wide , ten deep covered in ebony pyramid supporting silver cross - glass framed silver blade - divided shelf covered crimson satin contained of bones of 2 martyrs , offered parish of abzac in 1762 jean-victor, duke of mortemarts (1712-1771).
