she worked @ university of breslau assistant professor, giving historical lectures in several german archives , devoted herself genealogical researches. in 1924 mother cornelia died @ castle badewitz; alexandra, no desire of living in castle, sold property in 1925 countess hedwig von luettichau. 2 sisters freda , edith moved alexandra’s apartement in breslau. in following years alexandra dedicated herself writing , publishing historic genealogical works, had many clients, family fortune slipping through fingers fast –an unmarried feministic aristocrat– had take care of 2 disabled sisters , wanted preserve lifestyle 3 of them used have. before world war ii countess alexandra prestigious , respected genealogist in breslau, reputation gained through competence , work, did not lot financial troubles. , sisters struggled through rough time of war in “fortress” breslau , in january 1945 when civilian population of city told leave, sisters dyhrn decided stay (as many other silesian patriots did) , therefore risked lives. in april 1945, city bombed soviet army , destroyed.
alexandra countess dyhrn died sisters on 9 april 1945 when bomb fell on apartment @ central kaiser-wilhelm-straße, few weeks before war ended.
