in pilot episode, bribes guards in solitary confinement allow johnny post in burn dino ortolani. betrayed post italian gang.
he sets jefferson keane killed. backfires, keane goes death row killing 1 of attackers.

in second season, o’reily enjoying new status in oz drug scene when diagnosed breast cancer. helped through treatment , chemotherapy dr. gloria nathan, oz s chief physician. o’reily falls in love , overcome jealousy of husband tells mentally handicapped brother, cyril, kill dr. nathan s husband.

cyril arrested , sent oz, put in different unit brother. there, cyril raped vernon schillinger , aryan brotherhood gang. enrages o’reily, can t it. in order protect cyril, asks manager of unit, tim mcmanus, transfer cyril em city him. mcmanus agrees in return o’reily s admission of guilt in preston nathan s death, o’reily refuses.

a television crew comes oz film prisoners daily lives, headed jack eldridge, reporter once reported on irish gang activity in general, , o reilys in particular. report exposed them criminals mother, emotionally devastated upon finding out. in interview eldridge, o reily gets revenge on eldridge refusing give information adebisi s death. meanwhile, dr. nathan returns oz , admits prison psychiatrist sister peter marie did indeed have feelings o reily, sister pete encourages put out of mind.

supreme allah released solitary , tells o reily knows framed him, o reily , keller go burr redding , ask eliminated. redding has tug daniels visit , stab supreme allah, in oz murdering daniels brother.

a woman named suzanne fitzgerald (betty buckley) comes visit, claiming birth mother. o reily not believe @ first, accepts after father tells him her. mother turns out 1960s radical on run looking settle down.

o’reily s mother turns herself in , governor james devlin reduces charge two-year community service sentence @ oz. inmate li chen arrives shortly afterward, , jia kenmin plots him put o’reily brothers on death row. pays inmate glen shupe lie cyril chen planning rape fitzgerald. cyril , ryan attack two, , cyril stabs , kills chen while defending brother, , stands trial murder. o’reily family decides cyril mentally scarred live, not oppose trial.
