marasciulo made professional debut new york wrestling connection on july 10, 2004, under ring name plazma in losing effort dan barry. after wrestling in singles , tag team matches, plazma defeated matt maverick on january 28, 2006 become promotion s first ever hi-fi champion, first championship of career. on february 25, plazma retained title against maverick in first title defense. on march 18, plazma lost title mike spinelli. plazma defeat spinelli in rematch title on may 20. after retaining title against likes of jamie van lemer, spyder, javi-air, , jerry lynn throughout next few months, plazma lost hi-fi championship dickie rodz on october 21. after 2 unsuccessful attempts regain title in february , march 2007, respectively, plazma teamed maverick defeat angus brothers (danny , billy) , dan dynasty , jamie van lemer in three-way match win tag team championship. team retain title on several occasions before losing them mega , prince nana on december 15. same night, plazma defeated quiet storm win nywc heavyweight championship, although title vacated shortly afterwards due marasciulo announcing signing world wrestling entertainment.

between august 2007 , january 2008, marasciulo had several tryout matches wwe, using ring name greg cardona. signed wwe contract , began wrestling in florida championship wrestling (fcw) under ring name greg jackson. name later changed trent barreta, tweaked trent beretta. competed under mask girl mexico in attempt become first queen of fcw, eliminated in second round angela fong. beretta form tag team caylen croft called dude busters. together, defeat tyler reks on may 30, 2009 win fcw florida tag team championship after reks tag team partner, johnny curtis, failed appear. on july 23, barreta , croft lost title justin angel , kris logan. dude busters reclaimed title when croft , curt hawkins, new ally, defeated rotundos (bo , duke) on november 19. barreta officially recognized champion alongside croft , hawkins, , allowed defend title alongside either croft or hawkins via freebird rule. on january 14, 2010 @ fcw television taping, dude busters lost florida tag team championship fortunate sons (brett dibiase , joe hennig).

on november 19, 2010, caylen croft released contract, ending dude busters , turning barreta singles competitor. after becoming singles competitor, barreta largely involved in lower-card feuds. during period, majority of matches on superstars, , when appeared on smackdown, lose, garnering single win when appearing on smackdown during tenure in wwe. barreta continue feud hawkins, partner archer had been released croft. both wrestlers exchange wins in various matches on superstars. barreta feud drew mcintyre, managing earn upset victory on mcintyre on january 14, 2011 episode of smackdown, first singles win on smackdown brand since breakup of dude busters.

on october 12, 2013, trent made debut in family wrestling entertainment (fwe) bandido jr. in match fwe tag team championship. however, champions retained. on december 6, barreta defended fip world heavyweight championship against lince dorado.

on october 15, njpw announced beretta, representing chaos stable, return promotion on october 25, teaming brian kendrick in 2013 super jr. tag tournament. beretta , kendrick eliminated tournament in first round young bucks, following pre-match assault bullet club. beretta teamed various chaos stablemates in midcard six-man , eight-man tag team matches rest of tour, lasted until november 6.
