Deep Depression BOB 02 1992 North Indian Ocean cyclone season
a surge in monsoon trough spawned new tropical disturbance on bay of bengal on june 14. moving northward, system consolidated , classified depression on june 17. turning northwest, system deepened tropical storm , struck odisha, india winds of 85 km/h (50 mph) later day. according imd, system peaked deep depression 55 km/h (35 mph) winds , pressure of 980 mb (hpa; 28.94 inhg). once onshore, cyclone weakened depression before being last noted jtwc on june 18. imd continued monitor remnant disturbance through june 20 time situated on madhya pradesh.
though deep depression according imd, wind gusts 135 km/h (84 mph) caused extensive damage in odisha. 7 people killed in puri district due fallen trees high winds. along coast of puri , cuttack districts significant storm surge flooded numerous areas, damaging or destroying many homes , disrupting electrical grid. hansa river broke banks near koilipur due combination of surge , heavy rains. offshore, 370 fishermen went missing after sailing storm. remnant system, entangled within seasonal monsoon, produced torrential rains far west gujarat. @ least 41 people killed in rain-related incidents across country.
