the church

the commune has several religious sites registered historical monuments:

the church of saint peter

the church of saint peter (12th century) main element of benedictine priory. part of former diocese of saintes , belonged abbey of baignes. nave, has no pilaster, covered ceiling next false square 11th century. choir flat chevet surmounted vault late 15th century mounted on heavy ribs. choir has 3 windows, 2 of them - north , south - broken , 1 has 3 transoms , flamboyant latticework. side walls pierced fake square arches leading 2 gothic chapels 2 bays extending along nave. south has 3 keyhole arches , 3 columns capitals decorated small leaves end of 14th century.

the cylindrical baptismal font ornate ring moldings dates 16th century.

the facade has door , 3 open arches. first floor decorated 3 arches. north chapel has door curly brackets on west wall. buttresses reinforce corners of chapels , chevet.

the rectangular bell tower on first floor faces pierced 2 bays. second floor has rectangular bay , surmounted cornice , hipped roof on 4 sides.

the bell, dating 1639 , classed historic monument in 1944, unlike many bells, not melted during revolution make weapons despite quite revolutionary spirit of people. inhabitants of commune attached bell , particular tone , convinced new revolutionary authorities maintain it, saying useful them tell them changes in new republican calendar.

the cemetery located near church. previously, in front of church current square is. moved in 1930s create current square renovated in 2007.
