the oblast situated in steppe region. forests in oblast occupy 3.9% of oblast s total territory. average temperature in winter balances −3 −5 °c , in summer 22 24 °c. average annual rainfall 400–490 mm. during summer, dnipropetrovsk oblast warm (average day temperature in july 24 28 °c (75 82 °f), hot 34 38 °c (90 97 °f). temperatures high 36 °c (97 °f) have been recorded in may. winter not cold (average day temperature in january −3 0 °c (25 32 °f), when there no snow , wind blows hard, feels extremely cold. mix of snow , rain happens in december.

217 rivers flow within area, including 55 rivers longer 25 km, major 1 being dnieper, crosses through center of oblast. flowing through region 3 major reservoirs, kamianske, dnieper , kakhovka, , dnieper-kryvyi rih canal.
