International Criminal Court proceedings Bogoro massacre
in march 2004, drc government referred situation in country international criminal court (icc). in july 2007, court found there reasonable grounds believe 2 rebel leaders, germain katanga , mathieu ngudjolo chui, bore individual criminal responsibility war crimes , crimes against humanity committed during bogoro attack, , issued sealed warrants arrest. both men charged 6 counts of war crimes (willful killing; inhuman treatment or cruel treatment; using children under age of fifteen years participate actively in hostilities; sexual slavery; intentionally directing attacks against civilians; , pillaging) , 3 counts of crimes against humanity (murder, inhumane acts , sexual slavery). alleged have ordered fighters wipe out village of bogoro.
katanga, had been held congolese authorities since march 2005, transferred icc in october 2007. ngudjolo arrested congolese authorities on 6 february 2008 , surrendered icc. 2 men tried jointly; hearing confirm charges against them began on 27 june 2008.
