s-bahn station

the s-bahn station has 4 tracks, 1 of them has no platform , used through freight trains , 2 used s-bahn. fourth track, has platform, serves siding. special feature of station line between munich east station (ostbahnhof) , junction @ perlacher forst cemetery has traffic running on left, unlike other deutsche bahn lines run on right. because s-bahn @ munich east station must reverse, , running on left avoids time-consuming crossing of tracks there.

the u-bahn station similar other underground stations opened in 1980 on line u 2, unusually there openings in platform ceilings mezzanine. rear track walls covered large, vertically oriented wall panels, decorated in beige. floor covered isar gravel cast stones , equipped 2 (formerly four) continuous streams of ceiling lights , covered aluminum leaf. there stairs mezzanine @ both ends , in middle of straight platform. retrofitted lift connects s-bahn platform via mezzanine directly u-bahn platform, lift leads mezzanine station forecourt. mezzanine extends on entire length of u-bahn station, rather unusual in munich.
