a magnificent embroidered hearse-cloth (or coffin cover) given john husee senior vintners company on 14 february 1539 still held company. used cover coffins of deceased prominent members, , used purpose until 1931. made gold , purple cloth , decorated biblical scenes, vines , arms of husee (barry of 6 ermine , gules) , vintner s company (sable, chevron between 3 wine-tuns argent) in alternate corners. st martin, patron saint of vintners, shown @ each end, dividing cloak beggar , bishop of tours giving alms cripple. on long sides shown various images of death personified skeleton holding coffin. armorials shown on hearse-cloth barry of 6 ermine , gules, arms of ancient family of husee established @ harting in sussex in 12th century.
