wolverhampton wanderers

ikeme progressed through wolverhampton wanderers academy , made first team squad in 2003–04 premier league season. due matt murray s long term injury, promoted substitutes bench string of games never played.


first loan moves

to gain first team action, moved on loan league 2 side accrington stanley. made senior debut on 16 october 2004 when played first of 4 games them, keeping clean sheet @ aldershot town. had further loan move stockport county in autumn 2005 cut short due hand injury.


wolves breakthrough

he made wolves debut following season, in 5–1 win on chester city in league cup on 23 august 2005. however, although on bench, had wait until 26 august 2006 first league appearance club when appeared late substitute in 1–0 win on luton town.


ikeme suffered knee injury during 2006–07 season , had undergo surgery, kept him out of contention until late 2007. after recovering, unused substitute or employed in reserve team fixtures. not until september 2008 got chance return wolves first team after regular keeper wayne hennessey suspended. impressing, enjoyed longest run of games in wolves shirt until injury ruled him out remainder of season, during club went on claim championship , reach premier league.


championship loan spells

after regaining fitness, joined league 1 side charlton athletic on month s loan in october 2009 cover injured robert elliot, making 5 appearances. upon end of loan went out on loan again, time championship side sheffield united month hamstring injury halted stay. recovered setback , again sent out on loan championship club, time queens park rangers during january 2010, made 17 appearances.


in august 2010, again went out on loan when joined leicester city on one-month emergency deal cover injured keeper chris weale. spell later extended ended when foxes recruited chris kirkland @ end of november, after 4 appearances ikeme. spent remainder of 2010–11 season @ wolves.


ikeme completed one-month loan move championship side middlesbrough in august 2011, after impressing in pre-season trial. loan deal extended further month in august, , third , final month until 1 november. kept 6 clean sheets in ten games before hand injury saw him return molineux.


once recovered, had loan spell @ championship side when joined doncaster rovers in november 2011. made 5 appearances club struggled @ foot of table before deal expired in january. returned them once again in march 2012, joining on initial one-month loan deal, later extended run until end of season. however, recalled wolves following injury first choice goalkeeper wayne hennessey; point, doncaster had been confirmed relegated league 1 under future wolves manager dean saunders.


return wolves

ikeme made first appearance wolves since january 2009 on final day of 2011–12, coming on substitute dorus de vries in fifty-first minute of 3–2 loss wigan athletic @ dw stadium on 13 may 2012. terry connor s last game in charge of wolves before being replaced ståle solbakken, gave ikeme consistent run in first-team far.


ikeme started 2012–13 season wolves first choice goalkeeper in championship following injuries wayne hennessey , dorus de vries; maintained place in first team when latter returned in september 2012. in march 2013 conceded bizarre own goal during league game against bristol city, when allowed david davis backpass go between legs , roll on line. ikeme substituted @ half time, , later confirmed had broken hand during interval punching tactics board in dressing room in frustration @ incident. injury kept him out remainder of season, ended in relegation league one.


ikeme retained goalkeeping position @ wolves 2013–14 season, excelling in 3–0 win on colchester united @ colchester community stadium on 5 october 2013 when saved late penalty freddie sears. however, again suffered broken hand when injured in collision against tranmere on 1 january 2014. returned wolves goal established first choice, following sale of wayne hennessey, , part of team won league 1 title record points tally. after keeping 22 clean sheets across season ikeme named in pfa league 1 team of year alongside 4 other teammates.


once in championship, ikeme impressed @ start of 2014–15, keeping 5 clean sheets in first 8 games, during saved owen garvan penalty in 1–0 win on bolton wanderers on 20 september 2014 @ molineux.


during 2016–17 season, ikeme extended current deal, ensuring contracted wolves until summer 2020. goalkeeper received first career red card on 21 january 2017 in league match @ norwich city; when wolves appealed against it, suspension reduced 3 matches two.
