tang s second patrol began on 16 march , took waters around palau islands, davao gulf, , approaches truk. made 5 surface contacts, had no chance make attacks. assigned lifeguard duty near truk. tang rescued 22 downed airmen, including rescued john burns vought os2u kingfisher, , took them hawaii @ end of patrol.
