the occoquan church central church of truro parish , today known pohick church


within parish, @ formation, there 3 churches: occoquan (now known pohick church), william gunnells, , chapel above goose creek. goose creek chapel later become part of cameron parish. in 1766, new church established “on middle ridge near ox road”, present site of jerusalem baptist church off virginia state route 123. truro parish vestry contracted edward payne build new church , became known “payne’s church”.


other church buildings constructed including replacements falls church (started in 1763, while still part of truro parish) , current pohick church in 1767.
