overview

the notion of implicate , explicate orders emphasizes primacy of structure , process on individual objects. latter seen mere approximations of underlying process. in approach, quantum particles , other objects understood have limited degree of stability , autonomy.


bohm believes weirdness of behavior of quantum particles caused unobserved forces, maintaining space , time might derived deeper level of objective reality. in words of f. david peat, bohm considers take reality surface phenomena, explicate forms have temporarily unfolded out of underlying implicate order . is, implicate order ground reality emerges.

bohm claimed consciousness, each moment has explicate order, , in addition enfolds others, though in own way. relationship of each moment in whole others implied total content: way in holds others enfolded within . bohm characterises consciousness process in @ each moment, content implicate presently explicate, , content explicate has become implicate.



one may indeed our memory special case of process described above, recorded held enfolded within brain cells , these part of matter in general. recurrence , stability of our own memory relatively independent sub-totality brought part of same process sustains recurrence , stability in manifest order of matter in general. follows, then, explicate , manifest order of consciousness not distinct of matter in general.
