1987-1996

joshua humphreys served in united states atlantic fleet under msc control until taken out of active service on 29 june 1996, second ship of class deactivated. subsequently berthed @ naval inactive ship maintenance facility (nismf) @ site of former philadelphia navy yard in philadelphia, pennsylvania, , placed in reserve.



2005-2006

joshua humphreys reactivated on 23 february 2005. deactivated again on 1 october 2006, , again placed in reserve @ philadelphia facility, moored in delaware river.



2010 reactivation

in march 2010 atlantic marine in philadelphia awarded $12.8 million contract reactivation of joshua humphreys.


upon reactivation, joined fifth fleet in support of counter-piracy , counter-terrorism operations in indian ocean , gulf area. 11 november 2010 providing fuel abraham lincoln carrier group.
