the munich-giesing station built in 1898 on newly built munich east–deisenhofen railway. station @ time little more kilometre settlement of giesing , surrounded meadows , fields. former municipality of giesing had been incorporated in munich since 1854. in 1904, line via perlach kreuzstraße built; used existing line munich east station via giesing station perlacher forst cemetery, branched off east.


a tram depot built next station in 1912; used until 1972, when decommissioned , demolished. in late 1920s , during nazi period, giesing grew large blocks of flats built in area near station , in fields , meadows along deisenhofener straße central giesing. in addition, lines electrified @ time. on 28 may 1972, station integrated in munich s-bahn.


in 1985, station building became 1 of last suburban railway stations in munich receive monument protection , since 2004 has been used district cultural centre under name of giesinger bahnhof , gleiswirtschaft restaurant. on 18 october 1980, second main line of munich u-bahn opened giesing u-bahn station under s-bahn station. integrated bus terminal in front of station redesigned , in course of reconstruction moved temporarily street next railway line. in mid-2009, health centre , retirement home completed @ giesing station. since 2010, bus station has returned station forecourt.
