Deep Depression BOB 08 2005 North Indian Ocean cyclone season
an area of convection formed on december 14 on bay of bengal broad circulation. in area of low wind shear, allowed slow development, , became depression on december 15. ridge north steered system northwest , later west. on december 17, jtwc classified tropical cyclone 07b, same day imd upgraded deep depression peak 3 minute winds of 55 km/h (35 mph). on next day, jtwc estimated peak 1 minute winds of 85 km/h (50 mph). increasing wind shear prevented further development storm turned north, keeping east of sri lanka. approaching trough turned weakening system northeast on december 21, , next day imd downgraded remnant low in central bay of bengal. outskirts of system brushed chennai, city receiving 120 mm (4.7 in) of rainfall, although there no reported damage.
