Cyclonic Storm Hibaru 2005 North Indian Ocean cyclone season








an area of convection formed @ low latitude southeast of sri lanka on january 10, located within broad trough , in area of low wind shear. on next few days, convection consolidated elongated circulation became evident. on january 13, imd designated system depression. system organized further , developed rainbands. ridge north caused depression move erratically , remain stationary. imd upgraded system deep depression on january 14, same day jtwc classified tropical cyclone 02b. on next day, imd upgraded further cyclonic storm hibaru, estimating winds of 65 km/h (40 mph), marking unusual occasion such low-latitude storm in january. drifting southward, circulation gradually became exposed convection, indicative of weakening. hibaru degenerated remnant low on january 17.
