after few days, police traced of revolutionaries. surrounded several thousand troops while took shelter in jalalabad hills near chittagong cantonment on afternoon of 22 april 1930.


over 80 troops , 12 revolutionaries killed in ensuing gunfight. sen dispersed men neighbouring villages in small groups , escaped. few fled calcutta while arrested. intense crackdown on resistance ensued. ananta singh gave himself in calcutta coming away hiding place in chandannagar, close young teenagers captured , under trial in chittagong. few months later, police commissioner charles tegart surrounded hideout , in ensuing exchange of fire, jiban ghoshal lost young life.


some of revolutionaries managed reorganise. on 24 september 1932, debi prasad gupta, manoranjan sen, rajat sen, swadesh roy, phanindra nandi , subodh chaudhary led pritilata waddedar, attacked european club, killing 1 woman. plan backfired , debi prasad gupta, manoranjan sen, rajat sen, swadesh roy killed while other two, subodh , phani wounded , arrested. during 1930-32, 22 officials , 220 others killed revolutionaries in separate incidents. debi prasad gupta s brother, ananda prasad gupta, sentenced transportation life.
