islam fastest-growing religion in europe. according pew research center, muslim population in europe (excluding turkey) 30 million in 1990, 44 million in 2010 , expected increase 58 million 2030; muslim share of population increased 4.1% in 1990 6% in 2010 , continue increase on next 40 years, reaching 10% in 2050. there approximately 19 million muslims in european union in 2010 or (3.8%).


data rates of growth of islam in europe reveal growing number of muslims due immigration , higher birth rates. eric kaufman of university of london argue main reason why islam expanding, not because of conversion islam, nature of religion call “pro-natal”, muslims tend have more children. muslim women today have average of 2.2 children compared estimated average of 1.5 children non-muslim women in europe. while birth rate muslims in europe expected decline on next 2 decades, remain higher in non-muslim population, except dutch-turks, have lower birthrate (1.7) native dutch population (1.8).


based on current decline rate of islam in europe, in 2030, muslims projected make less 10% of total population in 10 european countries: kosovo (83.5%), albania (63.2%), bosnia-herzegovina (32.7%), republic of macedonia (7.43%), montenegro (1.5%), bulgaria (5.7%), russia (5.3%), georgia (3.2%), france (7.5%) , belgium (6.2%). there around 100,000 muslim converts in uk.


france has seen conversions islamic faith double in past quarter century. in france there estimated 100,000 muslim converts, compared 50,000 in 1986.
