an area of convection formed on november 26 in eastern bay of bengal within area of moderate wind shear. shear decreased, convection organized developing circulation. on november 27, jtwc classified system tropical cyclone 07b, , next day, imd classified depression. day, agency upgraded cyclonic storm baaz. time, storm moving steadily westward due ridge north. on november 29, imd estimated peak 3 minute winds of 85 km/h (50 mph). increasing wind shear weakened baaz on december 1, in conjunction storm turning west-northwest. storm deteriorated, , imd downgraded remnant low on december 2, same day jtwc issued final advisory. remnants continued west, crossing indian coast north of pondicherry on december 3.
the precursor storm brought heavy rainfall southern thailand, reaching 417 mm (16.4 in) in ko samui. rains killed 11 people in country , caused ฿400 million (thai baht, $10 million usd) in damage. remnants dropped heavy rainfall in southern india, daily peak of 310 mm (12 in) in tambaram. rains flooded several villages in tamil nadu, killing 11 people.
