developmental territory (2007–2009)

between august 2007 , january 2008, marasciulo had several tryout matches wwe, using ring name greg cardona. signed wwe contract , began wrestling in florida championship wrestling (fcw) under ring name greg jackson. name later changed trent barreta, tweaked trent beretta. competed under mask girl mexico in attempt become first queen of fcw, eliminated in second round angela fong. beretta form tag team caylen croft called dude busters. together, defeat tyler reks on may 30, 2009 win fcw florida tag team championship after reks tag team partner, johnny curtis, failed appear. on july 23, barreta , croft lost title justin angel , kris logan. dude busters reclaimed title when croft , curt hawkins, new ally, defeated rotundos (bo , duke) on november 19. barreta officially recognized champion alongside croft , hawkins, , allowed defend title alongside either croft or hawkins via freebird rule. on january 14, 2010 @ fcw television taping, dude busters lost florida tag team championship fortunate sons (brett dibiase , joe hennig).

on december 1, 2009 episode of ecw on syfy, marasciulo, under respelled name of trent barreta, , caylen croft debuted villains, squashing tag team. duo feud goldust , yoshi tatsu, culminated in loss goldust , tatsu in match determine number 1 contenders unified wwe tag team championship on february 9, 2010 episode of ecw. when ecw brand ended in february 2010, roster became free agents. barreta , croft signed smackdown, making debut brand on february 19 in losing effort against cryme tyme. barreta , croft feud hart dynasty, never manage win against them. in april, began using dude busters name again, had seemingly dropped since debuting in ecw. dude busters turned fan favorites when entered feud gatecrashers (curt hawkins , vance archer) in august. dude busters earned first tag team victory since joining smackdown roster when defeated gatecrashers on august 26 episode of superstars.


smackdown (2010–2012)

on november 19, 2010, caylen croft released contract, ending dude busters , turning barreta singles competitor. after becoming singles competitor, barreta largely involved in lower-card feuds. during period, majority of matches on superstars, , when appeared on smackdown, lose, garnering single win when appearing on smackdown during tenure in wwe. barreta continue feud hawkins, partner archer had been released croft. both wrestlers exchange wins in various matches on superstars. barreta feud drew mcintyre, managing earn upset victory on mcintyre on january 14, 2011 episode of smackdown, first singles win on smackdown brand since breakup of dude busters.


in 2011, barreta largely used enhancement talent, competing on superstars , losing various wrestlers such cody rhodes, jack swagger, tyler reks, ted dibiase, wade barrett, heath slater, , jinder mahal. april, barreta enter long rivalry tyson kidd, found himself on losing end in 5 singles matches against kidd. however, barreta managed win on kidd when teamed usos beat kidd, justin gabriel, , heath slater on june 30, 2011 episode of superstars. barreta defeated kidd in singles match on august 23 episode of nxt, first match on nxt.


nxt (2012–2013)

in 2012, barreta exclusively wrestle on nxt, failing wrestle on raw or smackdown. on nxt, barreta formed alliance yoshi tatsu december 2011, feuded curt hawkins , tyler reks; both teams managed score 1 win apiece during feud. both teams play pranks on each other, tatsu being locked in closet , reks hands being superglued onto video game controller. during feud, barreta score rare singles wins on both hawkins , reks on consecutive episodes of nxt in january 2012. feud ended when hawkins , reks defeated barreta , tatsu on january 18 episode of nxt. barreta disappeared television after february 2012 due torn triceps, instead being confined s trent? segments within z! true long island story youtube show. video package on september 12 episode of nxt acknowledged barreta s six-month absence , s trent segments, scheduling return on september 19 episode of nxt, defeated johnny curtis. after trading wins kassius ohno, barreta injured leo kruger before third match in series. on january 11, 2013, marasciulo released wwe contract; last televised match wwe being disqualification win on kruger due ohno s interference on january 16, 2013 episode of nxt, taped before release.
