daniel 4-year letter winner playing offensive guard @ alabama state university.


coaching career

daniel began coaching career offensive line coach @ enterprise high school 1974–1980 after graduating alabama state. enjoyed high level of success @ high school level, during 5 year time span eleven of offensive linemen earned college scholarships.


he moved auburn in 1981 serve offensive line coach on head coach pat dye s staff 1981 1992. during 12-year tenure, tigers appeared in 9 consecutive bowl games, 4 linemen selected all-american honours , several selected all-sec.


daniel s first professional level coaching experience came part of nfl s minority fellowship program, new orleans saints in 1988 , denver broncos in 1992 under head coach dan reeves. made professional-level debut new york giants, serving tight end coach 1993 1996. moved atlanta falcons in 1997, serving in same capacity 1997 2003. daniel instrumental in development of tight end alge crumpler, led falcons in receptions in 2002 , 2003 , has earned 4 pro bowl selections 2 all-pro honours. daniel served offensive line coach in 2000.


daniel joined pittsburgh steelers in 2004, replacing ken whisenhunt tight ends coach after whisenhunt promoted offensive coordinator. has been instrumental in development of tight end heath miller, guiding miller become all-around player , solid postseason contributor. under daniel s tutelage, miller has earned pro bowl selection while setting team records single-season receptions, postseason receptions, touchdowns, , yards tight end position.


personal life

daniel , wife, myrtis, have no children.
