the site covers 11.98 hectares. mcilroy park located on steep hill , features large species-rich grassland field , large block of mixed deciduous woodland. there 2 ancient sunken paths pass through woodland. there old chalk pits in west woodland area old clay extraction industry , possible saxon mound on eastern edge.


mcilroy park abuts, , contiguous local nature reserve called round copse.
