location , access

the commune of ambernac located in north-east of department of charente on western edge of country of charente limousine. belongs community of communes of confolentais.


it located 10 km west of confolens , 11 km north-east of saint-claud. 47 km angouleme - prefecture, 10 km champagne-mouton, 10 km roumazières-loubert, , 6 km saint-laurent-de-céris.

the commune geologically in aquitaine basin , massif central.


the valley of charente consists of marl of lias group while plateau of large western half consists of tertiary terrain (clay: red in north, flint clay , alterite in south), covering jurassic limestone bedrock. there metal-bearing jurassic geological fault , there traces of scoria , lead-silver mine galleries along charente.


the east of commune on limousin plateau - western part of massif central - composed of crystalline , metamorphic rocks - relics of variscan orogeny. valleys of rouillac , braillou carved granite , areas of sandy clay cover plateaux.
