the opening ceremonies 19th maccabiah took place second time @ teddy stadium in jerusalem. games officially opened shimon peres. president barack obama greeted maccabiah through prerecorded video. prime minister david cameron greeted maccabiah , team gb.


during parade of nations, giant helium balloons country delegation represented accompanied each delegation. coincidentally, opening ceremony took place on nelson mandela s birthday. south african delegation carried them large banner reading: celebrating our legacy – mandela day .


u.s. olympic gold-medal-winning gymnast aly raisman lit maccabiah cauldron. opening ceremonies celebrated performances number of popular musicians, including rami kleinstein , harel skaat. additionally, grammy-winning israeli violinist miri ben-ari , x factor finalist carly rose sonenclar performed @ ceremony.
