career
early days

in 1992, veland entered music scene when 15 years old. , bandmate kenneth Ølsson, later form tristania, formed uzi suicide. described fusion of rock , metal. however, interest grew more uk gothic scene. inspired songwriting darker , gloomier musical feel. fragments of uzi suicide turned tristania.


1995-2001: tristania

in 1995, co-founded tristania , @ 19 signed first record deal. veland released 2 albums , couple ep s band. tristania became 1 of leading acts in genre @ time. toured throughout american continent , in europe. band performed in of biggest music festivals in europe. whilst in tristania, main lyricist, songwriter , guitarist being responsible growling vocals, until left tristania after first 2 full-length albums due social , musical differences.


2001-present: sirenia

after tristania, in 2001 formed own band sirenia, composing same genre of music, in contributes of instruments growling vocals. rest of band used on live performances only.


mortemia

while taking sirenia on more melodic direction, veland began writing other types of music. ended many great ideas didn t fit current band s musical concept. since felt music good, decided form mortemia. music has similar style of tristania s second album beyond veil. band signed contract napalm records on 6 july 2009. mortemia studio project only, considering doing live lineup in future.
