beginning second quarter 1st-and-10 @ 44-yard line, connecticut failed make progress , punted. after gamecocks again went three-and-out , punted, huskies tried trick pass todman easley fell incomplete. after that, huskies advanced ball off short runs dixon , todman, , passes frazer easley , moore. south carolina stopped uconn s drive @ 27-yard line; connecticut settled 44-yard field goal extended lead 13–0.


garcia led gamecocks on next drive, either passing or rushing himself on every play except last. after first-down sack kendall reyes pushed south carolina 18-yard line, gamecocks advanced ball connecticut 35-yard line. on 4th-and-10, stephen flint tackled 9 yards behind line of scrimmage, returning ball uconn on loss of downs. 2 teams traded punts until halftime; connecticut still held 13–0 lead.

the gamecocks responded drive earned 2 first downs. after sack on third down lawrence wilson, south carolina punted. gamecocks got ball on 8-yard line after huskies went three-and-out. after 2 first downs , 15-yard personal foul penalty against it, south carolina faced 1st-and-10 on 26-yard line. garcia fumbled, , ball recovered scott lutrus of uconn @ 35-yard line. 4 dixon rushing plays advanced ball 24-yard line; quarter expired huskies leading 13–0 , in position expand margin.


fourth quarter

after 3 dixon runs failed first down, connecticut punted; kick desi cullen partially blocked, , south carolina recovered ball @ uconn 40-yard line. garcia promptly completed deepest pass of game, 38-yard connection wide receiver d.l. moore. gamecocks scored on next play, two-yard run brian maddox, ended huskies bid shutout. south carolina attempted onside kick retain possession, connecticut recovered ball. dixon drove uconn within gamecock 2-yard line; rather running score, huskies content run out clock. connecticut won game 20–7.
