being based on kabinenroller platform, kr175 had tandem seating accessed hatch opened upward , right. standard version of kr175 s hatch had canopy made large plexiglas dome cutout @ front small, flat glass windshield , cutout on either side frames sliding windows. sportster model available without dome or windows, windshield attached. windshield wiper manually operated.


the front fenders did not have wheel cutouts.


engine , transmission

the kr175 ran on 173 cc (10.6 cu in) fichtel & sachs air-cooled single cylinder two-stroke engine positioned in front of rear wheel, behind passenger s seat. engine started pull rope standard, there option of electric starter. electric starter became standard in 1954. transmission sequential, positive-stop type 4 speeds , no synchronization nor reverse gear.

the kr175 used standard kabinenroller steering system, steering bar connected directly track rods of front wheels, providing extremely direct response best suited small, measured inputs. kr175 s steering bar made tubular steel. gearshift lever, on right side of cockpit, had secondary lever on operated clutch. throttle operated twist-grip on left handlebar. foot brake pedal, pedal in car, operated brakes on 3 wheels mechanically, using cables. handbrake lever operated similarly.


in 1954, clutch lever replaced pedal.
