the zambian-registered 9j-paa, 21st , final carvair built, in south africa phoebus apollo aviation. aircraft on display @ rand airport, sits near other uncommon aircraft such boeing 747sp. although removed zambian register, owner plans return skies air shows. second (n89fa / miss 1944 , 9th carvair) based in gainesville, texas @ kgle gainesville municipal airport, , flies gator global flying services on ad-hoc cargo charters throughout united states. aircraft participated in 2005 world freefall convention in rantoul, illinois, setting record largest number of people fly in carvair when carried 80 skydivers , 5 crew altitude of 10,500 feet. piloted captain john harms , captain chris rice, climb took 38 minutes. skydivers exited large freight door @ rear of aircraft.
